Well, you did not ask a question,
but made a statement.
So, can I assume you what to know
why?
I hate the dots, because if the
backup did not go active until after midnight (the next day) then you have to
pick some dots from the day you want and some dots from the next day to actually
get a complete nights backups for that server.
Non-time line you can see the “time”
the backup occurred, and can tell that a 2:00 am backups goes with the previous
night.
So, I thought your statement, by
picking just one day, you are not seeing all the backups because you have to
see if any happened after midnight.

In the Windows
BAR GUI the default view is the colored dots timeline. I've noticed in this
view sometimes that it does not show all the images. I switch it to the
'listing' view by deselecting the timeline option under View>Show NBU
History as a Timeline and I get everything I'm expecting.

NetBackup does not differentiate between
images on disk versus images on tape. They are all just images to it.
If the data you request resides on tape, NBU will generate a tape mount
request automatically.
As for the date thing, NBU will, by default, go back to the most recent
full backup displaying the full backup along with all incremental backups up to
today's date. You will need to expand the date range that NBU scans for.
On the Java console, look on the right hand side just above the file
listing window. There is a "file tree" button and a "calendar"
button. The "file tree" button will display a list of all
images for the current client while the "calendar" button will pop up
a calendar that you can then select a date range for. I don't recall how
to do this in the Windows GUI.
Hope this helps.
