[Veritas-bu] Media & Master Server
2010-05-03 16:48:39
Our current environment has a single master/media server. We're on NBU
5.1 on Linux with a StorageTek SL500 with 6 drives (2 for NDMP) and
around 400 tapes. We have about 240TB in the library. We're working on
laying out a plan to upgrade to 7.0 via 6.5. We are generally running
backups 24/7 and Vault once a week for off-site.
My big question is what are the advantages or disadvantages to splitting
the master/media and for our size, how important is this? What are the
individual performance needs of these if they are separated?
