We see a similar benefit for restore operations - most of ours come 
directly from the staging areas : there's the additional benefit of 
keeping the tape drives streaming more of the time, if your staging area 
is fast enough (don't know if you're seeing this), as compared to more 
variable throughput from networked clients.
