My personal goal to stay consistant, if this is the first storage vendor for you, then you need to do your analisis, and see which one is better fitting to your requirements. We have HP EVAs for VMware and EMC NAS Centera/Clarrion in other cases for the file servers, also other our smaller offices have Network Apps. It depends on your needs, your need to see how you can expend and add any additional storage space, as well as maybe comabine NAS and SAN, fiber vs iSCSI and network access. Then the Netbackup supports NDMP or you can do host based backups for every individual server with the storage luns assigned or with VMware using their consolidated VCB framework.
