Based on the way I'm reading the compatibility docs, I'd say that there is no support at all for an AIX virtual machine.

If you can't find it documented that it's supported, it is probably not supported. What you don't know, however, is if Symantec tested it and it failed, or if they didn't test at all.

So even if you could make it work, you'd be backing up your Oracle databases in an unsupported manner.

You might want to log a formal call to confirm the support of this virtual environment.
