Phase one do not do dates.

Do 
Catalog
Actions up at top
Opens window
Choose a media server
Choose tape
Key in media ID
Click ok.

Do this for all your tapes to get phase1 done.

i'm a windows guy and always needed pictures

i would run phase 1 from the netbackup admin console. go to catalog and
then under actions choose import.

then pick the dates and choose import in the gui part for phase 2. last
year i had issues with phase 1 and had to open a support case and they
sent me the commands to run. turned out our catalog was corrupt
