I have MSSQL backups running to Windows servers.

They call $ALL databases.

Every now and then, (is it a windows 'feature' - I am exposing my unix bias),
they just ... stop responding to NetBackup.

The parent job starts and calls some number of child jobs, the child jobs
complete and the parent job just sits there...

Here is job details:

02/19/2009 15:42:54 - requesting resource EDL-SQL-2
02/19/2009 15:42:54 - requesting resource
lorenzo.NBU_CLIENT.MAXJOBS.cbcsql01dp-bkup
02/19/2009 15:42:54 - requesting resource
lorenzo.NBU_POLICY.MAXJOBS.MSSQL.GENLOGSB.PROD
02/19/2009 15:43:00 - granted resource
lorenzo.NBU_CLIENT.MAXJOBS.cbcsql01dp-bkup
02/19/2009 15:43:00 - granted resource
lorenzo.NBU_POLICY.MAXJOBS.MSSQL.GENLOGSB.PROD
02/19/2009 15:43:00 - granted resource EDL-lorenzo-SQL-tld-2
02/19/2009 15:43:01 - estimated 0 kbytes needed
02/19/2009 15:43:03 - started process bpbrm (pid=27116)
02/19/2009 15:43:03 - connecting
02/19/2009 15:43:04 - connected; connect time: 0:00:00
02/20/2009 08:22:16 - end writing
termination requested by administrator (150)

This job should run in 15 - 20 minutes TOPS, I killed this 16 hours later. It
was doing nothing on the client server.

Any thoughts?

I have suggested to the SQL guy that he add intelligence to his scripts to
check for this - is this right?
