That is usually the case.
However..
Something else you can try as well, try different tape drives, with older
(at least) LTO-2 drives, sometimes they are calibrated slightly
differently and one drive can read a tape that another cannot.

Hello,
NB: 6,5, Solaris 10 (SPARC), I was trying to import a catalog from L9 library
and I came across this error:
Error bptm (pid=8884) ioctl (MTFSF) failed on media id A00000, drive index 0,
I/O error (tmisc.c.1541)
Error bpimport (pid=8876) Status = media position error.
Any idea on how to overcome thosi ?
