Hi all
Scenario:
Netbackup version: Netbackup 6.5.1
Backups: Exchange Information Store and Exchange mailboxes.
Backup Hardware:
1 x LTO4 drive.
Storage Unit: 1 x drive with max streams per drive set to =
8.
Information store policy:
Limit jobs per policy = 4
Allow mutable data streams = ticked yes.
File List = Microsoft Information Store:\*
# There are 2 x Information stores, One and Two. The backup
produces 2 x backup streams.
Mailbox policy:
Limit jobs per policy = 4
Allow mutable data streams = ticked yes.
File List :
NEW STREAM
Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes:\[a-h]*
NEW STREAM
Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes:\[g-l]*
NEW STREAM
Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes:\[m-r]*
NEW STREAM
Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes:\[s-z]*
# The backup produces 4 stream.
Result:
Both the Information Store Backup and the Mailbox Backup run
at the same time. (Not best practice, but they do). The two streams of the
Information Store backups starts and run. The four streams of the Mailbox
backup start but only two run and two queue.
Summary:
STU = 1 drive x 8 streams per drive.
Multiplexing of each policy’s schedule = 4.
Allow multiple data steams = yes
Master server global setting for “max jobs per client” = 99.
Problem:
Although the storage unit allows 8 streams to it and the two
policies produces 6 streams between them, only 4 run and 2 queue. Why? Any
ideas?
Thanks.
