Re: [Veritas-bu] End Of Life - NetBackup 5.1

Hi Ed
Sorry, been away...
Yes I did this, however it still is not clear if this
includes any environment that is in the middle of upgrading from 5.1 to
6.5?
the way the PDF read does imply no more support, but what
about in a mixed upgrade environment? And the problem is with a 5.1 Media Server
that cannot be upgraded successfully without help from
Symantec?
Would they still
decline to support ? Surely I cannot be the only site in the "waiting to
upgrade" stage come the end of the year

Thanks for
this. I have a contract with Maintenance Support on NetBackup, but I just had
concerns that come Dec 31st 2008, End Of Life meant .... "Sorry, we cannot
take this call as the product is no longer supported".
So I
wanted to be 100% sure this would not happen.
Shame
Symantec cannot post anything on their site to clarify
this.
Shame on you for not googling for this. ftp://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support/products/NetBackup_Enterprise_Server/290017.pdf

End of Support Life, we will cease providing any Standard Support and any
Partial Support. Please refer to the worldwide Symantec Corporation Enterprise

In the event of conflict between timelines or deliverables stated in this
notice letter and those stated in the Policy, the terms of this notice letter

specific products and versions covered in this notice.
The
way I read it is that Symantec is certainly within its right to say " Sorry, we cannot take this call as the product
is no longer supported". You can get online self-help and
documentation, but that's about it. If you want to call Symantec for
support, it's time to upgrade.
