If it is just for restore purposes, why don’t you just
force all restores to go through the master server? While you technically
can run a 5.1 media server in a 6.5 environment, you wouldn’t want to for
very long. Personally, in an SSO environment..I wouldn’t want to do
it at all. If you did…I think you would need to build your new env
as 5.1 including all the SSO media servers and then upgrade the new
environment.
You may want to think about making some/all of the SSO SAN media
servers SAN Clients in the new environment. Good luck

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Migration Problem / Question Please
Morning
everyone.
I
have been unable to find any help on this, and wanted to see if anyone could
advise or shed any light on this.
Current
Environment 5.1 MP5 Master + Many SSO SAN Media Servers
I
am geting a brand new system, all licensed and new hardware / robot for 6.5. At
this stage, due to issues, I am not planning to "upgrade" 5.1 at this
time.
I
want to migrate the clients to the new system, and I have a plan to do this for
the majority of the clients, except the SAN SSO Clients.
My
question is as follows: If I have a SAN SSO Media Client at 5.1 MP5, could I
simply "point" this client to my new 6.5 Master Server?
I
ask this, because during the migration, there may be a need for a restore. As
its current Master is 5.1, it would be good if I could simply restore back from
the 5.1 environment, but backup to the new 6.5 environment.
I
recall that the command "nbpushdata -modify_5_x_hosts" needs to be
run if you are "not" upgrading a 5.1 Media Server.
Could
anyone advise?
Thank
you
Regards
Simon
