Not all dedupe vendors dedupe the way you’re
describing, but it is a common recommendation to turn off multiplexing. (Only
one or two vendors claim not to care.)

I don't know why this would be true - what blocksize does your appliance use to
de-dupe on? If it's de-duping 4K blocks and you're multiplexing with 256K
data buffers, you should be able to de-dupe just fine.
