Yes – with 6.x, IIRC, you can share a drive between NDMP and non-NDMP.
I think it started with 6.0, but I’m not sure. It’s there in 6.5 for certain.

With 5.x, tape drives are NDMP or not - I'm pretty sure they can't be both.
Would the situation be any different if I upgraded to 6.5?
I believe that this is finally supported in the current release.
