Mark, it's on the Windows Server/Clients/Options install CD/DVD, which is labelled DVD 1.

From the CD, you can run the main setup/autorun, select NetBackup Installation, then Install Java Windows Admin Console.

Alternatively, you can find the binaries for the Java install here: <drive>:\X86\Addons\JavaInstallFiles

Where can I get his java desktop? Am I just installing the Windows

As stated, you CAN have multiple versions of the Java GUI on your
desktop.
I personally have 4.5, 5.1, 6.0 and 6.5 on mine. You must change the
path
to a unique install path or it will overwrite the current version. If
you
find you cannot change the path, you will have to edit it in the
registry
manually, go to this key and change the path to the new location you
want
to use:

HKLM\Software\Veritas\NetBackup - Java (NB-Java)\Install Path

I believe that the 6.0 install is the only one with this issue.

Yes, you can install the both versions of the GUI on a desktop. Check

the install manual from Veritas, it explains the whole thing.

Which begs the question - can we install both versions of the GUI on a

single Windows workstation?

We have multiple masters here including a small 5.1 mast that we don't

intend to upgrade because it is backing up clients that don't exist in

6.x.

Workaround question: Can a Windows 5.1 master be made to export an

X-window GUI to a X-Windows client (e.g. Exceed) on a Windows

workstation like the UNIX master could?

If you are asking if you can use the 6.5.x version of the Java GUI with

a previous version of NetBackup, the answer is no and this is expected

behavior. None of the Java GUIs are compatible with other versions.

Until

you upgrade, continue to use the 5.x version. Once the upgrade is done

you will have to use the 6.5.x and won't be able to use the 5.x GUI.

We are getting ready to upgrade from 5.1 MP5/6 to NBU 6.5.1. However

when we install the Windows Java Gui to our desktops it fails saying

that a DLL is missing. When we fix the DLL issue we get an error saying

that the

6.5.1

Java Gui is incompatible with the 5.1 MP5/6 systems. Any one else seen
