If you already installed the software on the client, it might be that it is situated in a DMZ.

If that is the case you will need to create a host entry on the client with the master server's ip address and hostname. You might need too change that client attribute to utilize the VNETD port.

If that does not work, you might need to create some NAT addresses for master server in the DMZ and those will also need to be included in the host file.
