The DSSU is designed to be almost full all the time so a df is rather useless.  What I would like to know is how space I can actually write to and that's dependent on what has already been destaged.  We also keep track of how old the oldest images is on disk and also how many GB are on disk that has not been destaged.

We've run into issues in the past where we're not destaging fast enough - without some good metrics you can only guess that you're done destaging before the next set of backups start up.
