If there is data on the media that you want to read back you are
basically screwed. Netbackup reads the barcode, then reads the label
and if they don't match freezes the tape. You might be able to change
your barcode rules to something like TDS:4:5:6 but Netbackup is going to
read the 000001 off the media and not work. Your best bet is to wait
until the media are expired then re-label them and run the bplabel
command on them to re-write the media id on the tape to the new barcode.
Netbackup will think these media are "new" so you might want to manually
adjust your number of mounts etc...

Subject: [Veritas-bu] MediaID different of Barcode
Hello all,
I have to change the barcodes of many tapes .
Do you know a solution to configure netbackup (5.1 or 6.0) to have
different MediaID of barcodes ?
example :
MediaID = 000001 Barcode = TDS0001
MediaID = 000002 Barcode = TDS0002
...
Many thanks for your help.
Didier BRUN.
