Hi
I have been through the pain of merging a few master server databases -
no major problems occured besides media not being unique. The best thing
I did was to get all master servers at same NBU release.
My recommendations :
1. Check all media is unique.
2. Upgrade both boxes to same version NBU.
3. Check all media is unique = again.
4. Cleanup Db using the NBCC tool.
5. Call Symantec consulting - depending on the size of the DB,s the
"consulting" can be a major timesaver and also allows you the
opportunity to "network". We took 4 days to merge 4 Master servers, in
between other work.
6. Once merged, check all images have been migrated to the new master
server.
7. If the original media servers have been decommissioned - check the
image fragments reflect any new media servers. An alternative is to
setup "force_media_restore", but this setting can be eventually
forgotten. Best to update the image fragments.
best regards,
JdS
