Have you created all the log folders on the client and the master
server?  Make sure you look at the logs on the master server and the
client.

I've ran that with success.  The host can resolve the master and they're
on the same subnet.  For the Windows folks, the client is in a child
domain of the master.  None of the troubleshooting steps for the 57s
have produced anything - i.e., all the steps have succeeded.  That's why
I'm wondering about the next step, which I thought was bpbkar, but
produced no logs at all.
