I don't have a link at the moment, nor the time to search for it, but
I'll back up what Ed says.

For a Vmware physical server, you need one client license per OS.

F'rinstance, a box running ESX, with Windows and Linux virtual servers
on it, would require 1 windows and 1 linux license.
