1. Not sure if 5.0 has that - but check if media server has a file 
/usr/openv/netbackup/db/media/errors

3. depending on the verbosity level you have configured, you may see bptm 
process loging in errors in more details:
# egrep '(failed on media id|log_media_error)' 
/openv/netbackup/logs/bptm/*
/openv/netbackup/logs/bptm/log.042807:19:41:24.480 [15378] <16> io_ioctl: 
ioctl (MTFSF) failed on media id DU0481, drive index 48, I/O error 
(bptm.c.6601)

does anyone have a script that scans the logs for tapes that are getting 
read / write errors? I had a bunch of drives go offline the other night 
and it could be due to a bad tape or tapes and was wondering if anyone had 
a script that they run to scan for this condition.
