Jason / guys
We are in a similar position, and to be honest the suggestions are just not
the way forward.

The sad part is, there does not appear to be an easy method, other than
looking into an Archive Solution.

We use enterprise vault for Exchange Mailboxes, and this works a treat. I
have started investigating the use of backing up more recent files and
archiving off data that has NOT been accessed.

Our file date / time stamps show that almost 80% of our data has NOT been
accessed in a year! Can you imagine that!?!?

Enterprise Vault has the ability to be implemented to archive large file
systems. And this may be worth a look at.

Yes it costs money, no it will not be cheap. I have tried the NetBackup
archive solution, but it sends a few shivers down my spine.

Just my opinion!

Use the find command (I assume you're using UNIX)? and then generate an
include/exclude list as appropriate.

Justin.
