My understanding is that the more support you buy... the cheaper it gets.  In 
my case, we're dropping support for years 2+ so we went the cheap route. :(
 
The breakdown is
 
Media Server - $3,401 / Support $1,034
Clients - $376 / Support $112
 
If we could have bought the software sans support they probably would have. =P

A little different to mine but comparable, wish they would standardize their 
support, pricing, etc. so everyone was on the same page but hey; it's

Whoops ... that should have been a 5 in there not a 1!!!

 

We just bought all new NBU6.0 licenses and paid the following - (everything in 
US$ w/ 1 year 24x7 maint)

 

Master / Media - $4,435.32

Client - $483.73

 

I don't know if we got taken or not, but I'm somewhat confident given we beat 
on 4 or 5 vendors to get this pricing.

Also - how about the $100 per client / $4000 per master/media server COST as a 
reason for not upgrading?

Unless your  applications are not ready for 6.0, there is not a really good 
reason to not upgrade.  Plus NetBackup 6.0 is up to MP3 and is about a year
