Media Lists can tell you if the tape is full :-)

How do I know that tape is full? Does status indicate that tape is full and
I 
cannot write to it any more? What does FULL/MPX mean?

In the collumn where it says size in KBytes does it show what is the amount
on 
tape that is written?
