It's a "pay to play" feature....
Couple grand per client, IIRC.
And yes, your DBs must run RMAN, and use archive redo logs....thisallows the DB 
to "quiesce", which essentially means the .dbf files gointo "read only" or 
"backup" mode....so that you can back them up at apoint where the data 
integrity is guaranteed.....any writes to thedatabase during this period are 
cached in log files....once the database(.dbf files) backup is completed, the 
DB goes live once again, and thelogs are then flushed back (committed) into the 
database.
