DSSU - stands for Disk staging Storage Unit , from the below I would
think this is what you are after, whereas you write to the storage unit
and then duplicate off to tape at a later stage.
DSU - stands for Disk Storage Unit.

For DSSU's you can set up schedules to write off to tape and to which
pool and so on , DSU you don't have that functionality.

Try a couple tests by adding new storage units and and choose disk
staging as the type .

Subject: [Veritas-bu] VNB 5.1MP5 : DSSU verses DSU

I'm running Solaris 5.8 master/media located in one state, which
controls another media server in another state.
VNB 5.1MP5.
(1) What's the difference between a DSSU and DSU.
(2) We want to backup to DSSU/DSU, then copy to tape.
Any advise on this subject.
Thanks in advance.
