I haven't had the pleasure of trying to restore AD from backups yet.
For behavior like this, I'd engage Microsoft tech support. Please let us know
the outcome...

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Server 2003 AD Restore
I'm trying to do an AD restore of 2003 server using NB 6.0MP3 using
http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/library/f66ee9e4-96d7-4f74-a2fe-d669194bf5a21033.mspx?mfr=true
The restore works fine, i reboot the server and things seem to work for a
while. Then the server seems to loose it's marbles. Active directory seems to
just barf. DNS and Login's no longer work.
