Maybe a MP allows this to happen?? Or the previous versions only allowed
restores, but you can now do backups with ALTNAMES.
Very interesting - will need to look this up :-)

But I have just proven it can be used for backups too , weird I know , whats
even more weird is that
When using NO.Restrictions backups fail , as soon as a cluster touch file is
created with a node name the backups work.
Was clear as day as I had a tail on the bprd log
Very bizarre, always thought was for restores , documentation mentions that
too.
Now that I look at the path
/usr/openv/netbackup/db/altnames
Could make sense as to be used for a variety of things , possibly ?
