Subject: [Veritas-bu] How to remove old media server from configuration?

I'm looking at a 5.1 installation that had an old media server attached
(just for testing apparently).

I haven't been able to remove it from the environment. Since it doesn't
exist, 'bpmedialist' hangs (trying to talk to it). I have looked at
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/266720.htm, but it doesn't seem to
have solved my problem.

The server isn't present (and should have nothing associated with it), so #1
doesn't do anything. I don't see any signs of the server relevant to #2 -
#8. (There was a STU referencing the media server, but I deleted it several
restarts ago. There's no media referencing that I'm aware of).

The server was not present in bp.conf, but I did try to remove it from
vm.conf. When I restart the servers, the "DEVICE_HOST = xxx" line is
returned to vm.conf.

Since this is on unix, I even tried to brute-force look for what might be
referencing this host...

# find /usr/openv \( -name images -o -name logs \) -prune -o -type f
  -exec grep <mediaserver> {} +

The only files with evidence were vm.conf, logfiles in netbackup/db/error,
and some entries in a vault volume.list. Could that last one be responsible
(I'm not particularly familiar with vault).

Any other things I should be looking for to remove this media server?

Thanks!
