Hi All

I'm trying to perform a user-directed restore to an OpenVMS client
(client_A) from another OpenVMS client's (client_B) image however I'm
getting the below in the bprd log.

10:47:05.862 [8947] <2> nb_is_valid_master_server: checking if client_A
is a valid server
10:47:05.864 [8947] <2> nb_is_valid_master_server: *** host client_A is
NOT a valid server
10:47:05.864 [8947] <2> nb_is_valid_master_server: h_name is
client_A
10:47:05.864 [8947] <2> nb_is_valid_master_server: ip address is
blah.blah.blah.blah(0xa52f0439)
10:47:05.865 [8947] <2> db_valid_master_server: client_A is not a valid
server
10:47:05.872 [8947] <2> hosts_equal: hostnames DO NOT compare
10:47:05.872 [8947] <2> hosts_equal: name1=client_B name2=client_A
10:47:05.872 [8947] <2> hosts_equal: hostbuf=client_B
hostentry->h_name=client_A
10:47:05.873 [8947] <2> hosts_equal: there were NO aliases for client_A
10:47:05.874 [8947] <2> hosts_equal: there were NO aliases for client_B
10:47:05.874 [8947] <2> hosts_equal: addresses DO NOT match
10:47:05.874 [8947] <2> hosts_equal: client_B=0xa52f04b4
client_A=0xa52f0439
10:47:05.874 [8947] <2> process_request: client restore requests
disallowed

Additionally the client attributes on both clients in the master server
properties allows both browse and restore .

Both
/usr/openv/netbackup/db/altnames/$client_A
&
/usr/openv/netbackup/db/altnames/$client_B

and populated with each others hostnames (fqdm too)

Client_A and Client_B can both restore to themselves, its just the
alternate client restore, additionally a alternate restore from the
admin GUI works fine.

We are using VxSS which I must say am not 100% familiar with however I'm
thinking that both clients can perform User-Directed backups and both
can perform User-directed restores to themselves so guessing the Vxss
authentication is fine.

Am I overlooking something stupid ?

Regards

Dave
