The two DSSUs are that large because they will be able to hold a week's
worth of backups (compressed 2:1 ish) so I can stream them to tape
during the week when the SSO Media Servers won't be backing up. That
should give me 4 drives the entire weekend to backup my 6 largest
clients / servers which should be plenty of time. The idea is to add
more SSO Media Servers down the road sometime (budget, ::sigh::) and
originally I wanted 10, not 6, so I'm keenly aware of the number of
drives being a major limitation. Thanks for the input!

2 media servers and 6 SAN media servers , they can be configured to all
share the drives however judging by the size of you DSSU's I would
dedicate drives for the pure job of duplication.

Previously I have worked with 1 TB DSSU's and the media server had
dedicated drives and still contstantly chugged away

Its looking like we're going to buy a Library with 4 (expandable to 10)
drives and I'm wondering this.

If we have two media servers with 6.5TB DSSUs and 6 SSO Clients can they
all share 4 drives? I know there is going to be scheduling involved,
but can the standard media servers allocate their own SSO shared drives
when they need to dump to tape and can those 4 drive be available to the
6 SSO Media Servers while the standard media servers DSSUs aren't
dumping images to tape?

Management has decided on a config and I'm just double checking to make
sure its going to work. I'll post it here when we're 100% decided
because I'd feel better if some people who use SSO now bless my
endeavor. =)

Thanks all!

-Jonathan
