All,
I'm having problems quickly backing up logical logs for an informix 7.31
database using Netbackup 6.0 MP2.
Each Informix Server (there are many of them....) has a 550 meg staging
disk that the logical logs back up to. Every hour that staging disk is
duplicated onto a tape library local at each server. We have just
migrated to Netbackup 6.0 MP2 from Legato Networker 6.1. On Legato, the
Logical Logs went directly to tape, and took a mater of seconds. Now,
with the logical logs going to the local hard disk, it takes around 31
seconds (the record) to 1 minute 20 seconds (the slow record). My
problem is, is that these servers load will vary depending to the time
of day. That said, a single logical log can be used up in a mere 15
seconds. Once all the logical logs are full, and not backed up...the
database screams to a grinding halt.
Does anyone have any experience with performance tuning backups to a
staging disk? Specifically Informix Logical Logs?
Thanks.
