There are ways to see hardware on Sol9. Since you had to attach the library
somehow then you most likely rebooted. If you did not issue a reconfigure
reboot to rebuild your device tree. If you think you are okay then run,
devfsadm -Cv to make sure. Then run some mt -f /dev/rmt/# status commands to
see if you see the tape drives.

If that does not work take the server to the ok prompt, set auto-boot?= false,
type reset-all and then run probe-scsi-all. It will poll the devices on the bus
and report back. If that is good and you cannot see the drives or robot while
in init 3 you need driver help. Call the library vendor or Sun for help.

Once you are confident you have the devices built run the scan command. The
output is more useful (in my opinion). This will only work well if you have
properly configged the sg/NBU devices within /kernel/drv/st.conf and
/kernel/drv/sg.conf (AND taken a reboot. Not to mention the /etc/devlink.tab
file.). That should be accomplished by running the
/opt/openv/volmgr/bin/sg.build and /opt/openv/volmgr/bin/driver/sg.install
scripts. See the /opt/openv/volmgr/MediaMgr_DeviceConfig_Guide.txt file for
details. If you feel confident of your devices then you can use the scan output
to configure drives and robots with the tpconfig utility. If you want a preview
of what NBU sees run tpautoconf -r to look for robots and tpautoconf -t to look
for tapes. If you feel brave run tpautoconf -a and it will config things up for
you.

Good luck,

Bill

Run the command /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/sgscan

If you see the L11000 in the hardware list then open the GUI (java or windows)
and ran the hardware wizard.

If you don't see the library at the hardware level, call SUN to fix it. I think
that the L11000 is a Quantum P3000 or P7000 library

Hi all,

I have a Sun Enterprise 420R with Solaris 9 and a Sun StorEdge L-11000. Since I
am new with Veritas NetBackup 6.0, after I completed installing NetBackup
Server and NetBackup Client, can someone tell me what do I need to install (on
what CDs) and configure to make it recognize the L-11000? I have don't have
support from Symantec because I have a temp license to evaluate.

Thanks in advanced

Patrick Nguyen
