Why not define a shorter retention on your copy 1, ie. one week, then
specify the longer retention for the physical tape in the vault process?
BTW, you typically don't want to expire data from VTL "as quickly as
possible", but rather as slowly as possible, while still ensuring
there's sufficient free space for the following night's backup....the
longer the data is on VTL, the greater tha chance of being able to
restore from disk rather than tape.
