I agree with Mark. linux is not working well if you have SSO. There is a 
technote that point on this. But we are using linux media servers (and master) 
for many of our customers.
The trick is to configure the drives when all drive are idle and then edit the 
netbackup script to commend the make_scsi_dev line. That way netbackup works 
fine with linux systems even with SSO (tested as I seid with many 
installations) .The only realy  bad is that the duplication of windows buckups 
using linux as alternate media server fail at the EOM ( tested with ES4)
