Now that was my understanding! so really, I may as well kick off a failed
job within the SAME policy.

But can you kick off a STREAM rather than the whole lot? (job has 8 streams)

Netbackup uses a combination of Policy name and archive bit. If you restart
broken jobs within another policy next time policy 1 will not recognize that
the jobs was already done.

Betreff: [Veritas-bu] Question on Policies

Guys
A quick question again about Policies

Scenario: One Policy does Weekly Full backups and Cum Incr. - Policy Name is
SERVER 1

I have created a 2nd Policy named SERVER1_MANUAL, same settings as SERVER1,
but this time not specified any drives \ folders to backup.

If a stream fails on the FULL Backup in the SERVER1 Policy, could I enable
the 2nd policy to backup the stream that failed?

Although this would work, I am starting to think that when the SERVER1
Policy runs an incremental, it will treat the streams that failed the full
backup as a full backup and continue to do so until a Full Backup has run at
the end of the week.

Does that make sense? :-) Any guidance on this would be great, as I want to
narrow down how many policies I have.

Finally, if I get a failed stream, is there a way to KICK OFF just a single
stream if the window has closed? What I do is kick off a MANUAL FULL, and
kill the streams that I dont need a full backup of.
