Simon,
Don't have problems, you don't need the policie and the volume pool to
import a expired tape. In the Veritas support site (support.veritas.com) you
can find technotes about expired tape imports.

Hi guys
I am looking at cleaning up my Volume Pools, as I have at least 13 volume
pools that are now empty and 2 that contain month end media id's in the
NetBackup DB.
1) I have old policies that have been deactivated for some time. Can I
safely remove these? they have not been used for at least 7 months
2) In regards to item 1, I have volume pools empty that no longer get used -
can I remove these? There are no Media ID entries against these volumes
3) I have 2 volume pools that DO have Media ID entries. Is there a way to
MOVE these to another "live" volume pool without affecting the Database? In
other words, move the tapes without expiring the images or making Netbackup
think they are no longer required

BTW, raised a call with Symantec to try and get my Media Servers online....
2 days later STILL cannot get them seen by the Master!!
