writing backup" | awk '{print $23, $24, $25, $26, $27}'
Would give output for the last 24 hours like:
012345 on drive index 0
099999 on drive index 3

If the tape has unexpired images, you can use the Admin Console "Images
on Media" report to view the "device written on". No doubt there is a
command line version of this display.
