Ah.

We move *slow*, unless there are enhancement needs or security issues,
so we have used pretty much each and every single MP (we are on the MP
track) 'known to man' that is between our current revision and base 3.4
where we started. Until 5.0 we used the FP track. We do stay up to date
on our version, but we lag a few months behind in application usually.

;-)

Right now we are at 5.1 MP3 and about to upgrade to MP4.

Very consistent behavior amongst all of the versions of NBU. We use a
mix of LTO 1, 2 & 3 drives.

---There is one thing that I should note. We have had a Dickens of a
time with the mix using STU and drive/robot types. You would think that
hcart3 media type would work for LTO3. Instead we have had to stick with
LTO1 (just hcart type) for all of our drives. When examining the output
from 'available_media' you can see that the appropriate amounts are in
fact being written (i.e. the amount you see on an LTO3 tape is roughly
400gb's-worth, DLT is 40gb, and so on). Not sure if we have everything
configured the best, but we had errors using the hcart3 type for lto3
until we changed it to be just hcart that not even Veritas could resolve
except for as we have it using this work-around ... probably due to the
use of multiple types in one robotic device.

Cheers!
