Sorry, I completely mis-read the question below and Dean is right....
If a volume is SUSPENDED the system will not write to it until all the
backup images on that volume have expired. (either automatically or if
manual expiry is done using BPEXPDATE)
If a volume is frozen the system will not write to it even after all the
backup images on that volume have expired. This means there could well be a
problem with the Media. When expired the report will say Frozen Expired.
Hope This Helps!

It means that Netbackup won't write any new data to that tape, until all
data on it expires. It will then be available for re-use.
In my experience, if Netbackup has problems writing to a tape, it will
generally FREEZE it, rather than SUSPEND it.
The only thing I know of that suspends tapes is Vault, which suspends tapes
that are being ejected from a library. Other than that I've only manually
suspended tapes myself using the bpmedia command.

Several reasons, but most likely, Netbackup was attempting to try to use
this media to write to, had problems and suspended the tape, in case the
media is bad, could not be written to, or was write protected.
Are any images present on the media? If you use the Media Lists, it will
tell you when it was last used, when its due to expire too :-)

I have several tapes that show as suspended. What does this mean?
