Morning
Came in this morning after having a month and few weeks of 100% successful
backups to find this in the activity log for a client
14/01/2006 04:26:09 - Error bptm(pid=4968) write error on media id 4944L3,
drive index 1, EOM returned when writing media header
14/01/2006 04:26:14 - Error bpbrm(pid=2520) from client 194.11.12.109: ERR -
bpbkar exiting because backup is aborting
14/01/2006 04:23:40 - end writing; write time: 04:17:01
media write error(84)
media write error(84)
14/01/2006 04:23:41 - Error bpsched(pid=2196) backup of client 194.11.12.109
exited with status 84 (media write error)
Now, I had set the global attributes to RETRY a backup on several failures.
On the 2nd attempt, it connected again and completed with status "0".
As it completed with "0" I trust the backup is all good, and as I use
check-points, my feeling is that the next attempt would have carried on from
the point it failed. I also noticed it used a different tape on the next
attempt too!
Any advise on this is truly appreciated
Thank you
Simon Weaver
