Hi folks,
I'm looking into the performance tuning side of things in Netbackup 5.1

I have been checking the stats in the bptm logs and it looks like we
could get some performance gains by tweaking SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS and
NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS. The Data Producer has much larger wait values than
the Data Consumer.

We are using a L700 Tape Library which has 6 SCSI attached SDLT
drives(Quantum SDLT 320) and 2 fibre attached LTO-2 drives(IBM Ultrium
TD2 38D0).

According to the VERITAS documentation , the SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS value
should be set depending on the Max IO size of the drives used. We are
currently running with only one media server so how should we choose the
value ?
I don't know the MAX IO sizes for the two different types of drives but
I'm guessing they are going to be different. If anyone know the MAX IO
sizes for those drives please let me know.

Any suggestions on how to tackle the problem of the diffent types of
drives ?
If we add a couple of media servers then I guess I would just vary the
values on each media server and restrict the media servers to using one
drive type only. In the menatime, that is not an option.

Thanks.
Paul
