Sandy,

There are instructions in the admin guide, and on the Veritas support site,
on how to do a two phase catalog backup. The first phase is a "normal" NBU
backup of the /images directory, so can span tapes and uses the normal medi=
a
pools. The second phase just backs up the master's images directory, along
with the other catalog related files which are relatively small.

Expiring old tapes to reduce the size of the catalog would be possible, but
probably very messy. You need to consider images spanning multiple tapes.
This can get very fiddly when you need to import, particularly if you've
expired one tape, but not the other.

Cheers,
Dean
