thanks for your reply.
30mb/sec that is double the speed I get for a normal backup to a single
tape
what version of Netbackup are you running?
what speed are you getting for a normal backup, non-ITC? is it approx
30mb/sec?
=20
Did you tweak buffers or anything in /etc/system, etc.. to get this to
work?
NET_BUFFER_SZ  =3D 26214
NUMBER_DATA_BUFFERS =3D 32
SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS =3D 65536
don't know if these are related but I'll mention them just in case
./db/config   shm and ENABLE_SCSI_RESERVE
=20
I am consistently getting 8 mb/sec on ITC independent of what pair of
drives are used, but 16mb/sec for duplication and normal backup(single
tape)
Any ideas? .. could it be the LTO drives Vs SDLT320?
Eustace

I'm using ITC.
=20
Second copy is 20 miles across town via FC over DWDM.
=20
both targets are STK L700e loaded with Native FC IBM LTO2 drives,
connected via SanBox2 Sun (QLogic) switches (Soon to be replaced with
Brocade 3800s surplused from another project) and Sun (QLogic) X6768A
HBAs
=20
Can write 30+ MB/s to two tapes simultaneously.....performance hit over
a single drive is negligible.
=20
Are you doing correct benchmarked tests that aren't being affected by
other influences?
i.e., with no other backup or restore jobs running, you're backing up
the same machine (same data set, same network connectivity, etc, etc)
twice, each time to a single drive, to each of the two drives (eliminate
the possibility that one particular drive you're only using in the ITC
config isn't the problem) you will use for the ITC job, then repeating
the exact same job using ITC to the 2 identical tape drives?
=20

        Inline tape copies are slow, our normal backups get 16 mb/sec,
with inline tape copy the speed is almost 50% slower, 8 mb/sec

        Is anyone out there using inline tape copies, what speeds are
you getting, is it 50% slower?=20
        Duplication speeds seem to be normal, i.e. 16mb/sec=20

        My Tape Library Quantum P3000 is configured in a SAN=20
        P3000 SDLT320 -----(Fiber Bridge FC230)---- Brocade ------ JNI
HBA =20
        I am trying to find out if this is normal for Inline Tape
Copies, if not then there is some tuning to do=20
