Thanks for the reply.  Are you implementing this design in your environment?  
Also a question
regarding restores.  I assume that after the files are moved to tape and 
deleted from disk, in the
event of a restore RMAN will request the files and NBU  determine which tapes 
it needs to complete
the request, but RMAN will have no idea about specific media containing 
images...Is this correct.
