Does anyone know how to disable the service on a windows client?

The service is not listed in the \\wininstall\system32\drivers\etc\services
file.

Veritas says it can't be changed because it is started by the listener.

We can turn it off on the Unix boxes, but not the winders boxes.

By the way, until you get your Unix master patched, you can change the port
used in /etc/services and point the Java Admin GUI to the new port number.

Yes.

Almost all of my machines have a firewall stopping or limiting port
13722 already. Those running the Admin Console were one of the exceptions.

cheers, wayne
