Let's say I have some Unix clients at NetBackup v5.1MP2, that I use the
"install on local computer" method of installing/updating my NetBackup
client software, and use the Java GUI on the client.
Now we have a Symantec/Veritas security alert of an "execute arbitrary
code" bug and fix(es). And now I go see what is necessary to install
the patch ...
Am I reading the documentation correctly? I think it says I must update
each client to MP3, then to MP3A, and then to MP3AS0949.
And by implication, this means that if I install on a new client, I
install from the 5.1 CD, patch to MP3, patch to MP3A, and patch to
MP3AS0949. This is getting quite ridiculous! :-(
I hope I'm missing something. If not, maybe it's time for customers to
demand better delivery of the product (such as a single self-installing
executable that installs and/or updates in one fell swoop)?
cheers, wayne
