you need an altnames file for the backup client to allow the restore =
client the functionality you are looking for...
=20
what you need to do is create a file called client1 (who the backup is =
done for), and in that file type the name of the client you want to =
restore to. There is no extension on this file so it will just be =
client1
=20
you will place this file in the following location:
unix: /usr/openv/netbackup/db/altnames=20
or
win: c:\program files\veritas\netbackup\db\altnames

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Client <hostname> peername <peer> is invalid for =
restore request.
I'm trying to do a database backup/restore from one client to another. =
The backup runs fine from the first client. But when the restore is =
attempted, the client I'm trying to restore to throws the error:
client foo.returnpath.net peername bar.returnpath.net is invalid for =
restore request=20
INF - Server status =3D 135=20
bperror says this is a validation issue, but DNS is setup correctly and =
the users should be the same on both hosts. Veritas mentions something =
about the client shortname needing to be configured in the kernel, but =
the document was kind of cryptic. Has anyone seen this before? I'm not =
sure what I'm missing.
Thanks.=20
