Alex,
You can install/run both clients on the same system. For example we run
our Oracle RMAN backups to Netbackup on one
of our HP systems and other backups on the same system to DataProtector.
We have been doing this for several years
with no problems.
You could install the Veritas client and gradually migrate the data to
Veritas. This will work fine if you have
an new tape library for Netbackup. Or if you have an STK SL8500's with
ACSLS you can partition one of the libraries to hold tapes
for both DataProtector and Netbackup and migrate accordingly.

We are about to embark on a journey to migrate from HP DataProtector
to Veritas NetBackup.
Can anyone recommend any white papers, documentation, or experiences in
doing this migration ?
