I think the Netbackup volume pool is used for catalog backups only. And
catalog tapes are not in the catalog, so a bpmedialist won't show you
the tape.

Try assigning it to another pool like scratch, and then the media server
pull it when needed.

I've got an issue with expired tapes that arent showing up as
available to be used for backup.

  Here is an example.

I have a tape A00008 sitting in slot 6 of a Sun L280 tape robot, It
doesn't understand barcodes.

   bpmedialist -m A00008
requested media id was not found in NB media database and/or MM volume
database

   vmquery -m A00008

The available_media command shows the tape as available

Why won't Netbackup see this tape and use it?

Probably something simple but I can't seem to get it to work. I've
searched the archives for anything useful on this but can find nothing.

Can someone help me out or point me to where I can find out how to
make
this, and other tapes sitting the robot now available and let Netbackup
use it?
